Game of Thrones Season 7 could either see Sansa run off with Littlefinger, or staying in Winterfell by Jon's side. But could an even stronger union be formed? Read on to find out more about an interesting theory that could unite the North.
Game of Thrones has never been kind to the Starks, most especially Sansa, but Season 7 should mark the time when she really takes control of her own destiny when it comes to her love life. Sansa was never in a position to calculate her way to becoming queen like Margery, she never fell in love with her husband like her mother Catelyn did with Ned or Daenerys with Khal Drogo, nor did she follow in Cersei's questionable footsteps. No, instead Sansa was passed around from Joffrey, to Loras, to Tyrion and finally to one of the worst people Westeros has ever seen, Ramsay, whom she happily murdered at the end of Season 6.
So really, it's only fair that the next time Sansa says her marriage vows, it will be under her own terms. But, according to this theory by avid Game of Thrones theorist Alt Shift X, a new wedding may be in store for her, though you'll probably feel torn that her betrothed is marked to be none other than Jon Snow.
It's no secret that when the Game of Thrones Season 7 scripts were first given to the actors, Sophie Tuner, who plays the Lady of the North burst into tears, and now we may have a feeling it was at the prospect of having another questionable betrothal on her character's hands. According to this theory, in George R. R. Martin's prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set a century before A Song of Ice and Fire begins, there is a tournament held in Ashford where five combatants fight to be named the champion of Lady Ashford. Each combatant represents the houses: Baratheon, Tyrell, Lannister, Hardyng, and Targaryen.
These houses also mirror those to which Sansa has been linked to through betrothals, replacing House Hardyng with House Bolton. It was revealed (though not verbally confirmed), in Season 6 that Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. This therefore means that Jon and Sansa are cousins, but could they marry having grown up believing that they're brother and sister? In any case, it is also a possibility that Daenerys and Jon could be saying their marriage vows before Sansa even has to worry about such things. Do you think Jon and Sansa could wed in Game of Thrones?
