God of War unveiled at PlayStation 4's E3 2016 press conference

What a way to start off a show! A live God of War demo is certainly a good way to kick things off for Sony's E3 2016 conference.

God of War is one of the most beloved PlayStation exclusive franchises. Santa Monica Studio has been working on the God of War franchise since the very first one was released in 2005 on PlayStation 2. Now it's time for a new one. We haven't seen an original God of War game since God of War III came out on PlayStation 3 in 2010. We've had a few remasters since then, but we haven't seen Kratos take on new enemies for a while. Check out the gameplay trailer below, courtesy of PlaySation's YouTube channel.

This gameplay trailer showcases Kratos with a boy who seems to be his son. They go on a hunt together but run into more than just deer. Their hunt is rudely interrupted by an angry troll. The pair managed to defeat it, but Kratos' son isn't really much help. The whole theme of the demo is to set up Kratos' family life, before he started on his revenge fuelled path of trying to destroy the Gods single-handed. In many ways this game feels like a prequel. Lets hope that the rest of the game live up to this glorious demo. For more on E3, such as Ubisoft's best games, and South Park: The Fractured but Whole's trailer, keep it with us at melty. Are you looking forward for the new God of War game?
