The Vampire Diaries Season 8: Kat Graham talks Nina Dobrev's return

Written by

We Canadians are very proud of our girl Nina Dobrev, and we would love to see her back on The CW's hit show The Vampire Diaries, even if it's just a cameo. Find out what Kat Graham had to say about her former costar's possible return

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, The Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec broke the news to fans that Season 8 will be the show's last one. This is the beginning of the end, however a few new faces will still be introduced to viewers. Most notable is UnREAL alum Nathalie Kelley, who has been cast as Sybil. The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Sizzle Reel seemingly confirms Sybil as the vault monster, but it looks like we'll just have to wait until October to find out. Damon was lured into The Armory vault by this new villain, who mimicked Elena's voice to trap him inside.

Following the Season 7 finale, Plec revealed that Elena actress Nina Dobrev returned to record those new lines. This act gave many fans hope that Dobrev will reprise her role, especially after Plec declared that the actress made a promise to return and say goodbye. The final season of The Vampire Diaries will only have 16 episodes, but will focus on paying homage to Season 1 and bring things full circle back to Mystic Falls.

At the recent Teen Choice Awards, ET Canada spoke with The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham on the Red Carpet and brought up her former costar Nina Dobrev. We were all heartbroken when Dobrev left the series after Season 6, and fans are hoping to catch one last glimpse of her character, Elena Gilbert, before the show ends for good. When asked whether or not Dobrev will come back to say goodbye, Graham played coy and proclaimed: "I'm the worst person to ask because I know nothing."

Even though the ladies no longer work together, we'd like to think that they still keep in touch and talk here and there. Graham went on to say: "Obviously [Dobrev's return] has my vote, and we want the most amazing outcome as a cast and as a crew, and I'm sure the writing staff. And we just are always supportive of [Dobrev] and her journey, and it would be great, obviously." Do you hope to see Nina Dobrev back in action on The Vampire Diaries?
