Right off the bat (pun intended) Negan has given The Walking Dead fans a lot of reasons to hate him. But don't confuse Jeffrey Dean Morgan with his character like one senior citizen did! He's just an actor, people
Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan has become the most hated man on television following The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere (here's our recap if you missed it for some inexplicable reason). But it looks like some people can't seem to separate fiction from reality. Morgan did quite a convincing job as he embodied the Negan from Robert Kirman's The Walking Dead comics in "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" and we can't wait to see more of him in Season 7, despite his presence spelling doom and gloom for Rick and co. However it looks like there are those who aren't so thrilled by The Walking Dead's newest cast member.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jeffrey Dean Morgan recounted a funny encounter with a fan of the show. The actor shared, "I was with Norman [Reedus]... We had been riding motorcycles all day and we were in the middle of nowhere and stopped to get a coffee. And this lady is at our car, and she’s probably 80 years old, and she comes up and just flips me off and says ‘F— you!’ And Norman falls off his chair, laughing, and I’m like ‘Whoa! Whoa!’” Don't underestimate the passion of Walking Dead fans.
No one wants to be hated, but Morgan understands that it comes with the territory of being The Walking Dead's new resident Big Bad. Morgan said, “It’s that kind of passion, which is awesome.” He continued, “I’m not convinced that my life is going to be totally awesome, as far as the fan base, after the first [episode]. I think it’s going to take a minute. I think it’s going to take a minute for people to get to know the character and love to hate him as opposed to just the hate.”
Following the Season 7 premiere many fans feel nothing but rage towards what Negan did to Abraham, Glenn, and even Rick with all those psychological mind games, but Negan is a charismatic guy and we don't doubt that he'll grow on viewers in some way. We still have a lot to learn about Negan and the way he operates, and the next episode will feature some action in the Sanctuary. The Walking Dead Episode 2 spoiler photos also show that we'll finally meet Ezekiel and the Kingdom! We definitely need some good to balance out Negan's bad. What do you think of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan so far?
