The Walking Dead Season 7 will see Negan tear Rick's crew apart, but in reality, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was honoured to be joining such a fantastic group of actors. Read on as Andrew Lincoln dishes on welcoming the actor onto the show.
The Walking Dead has been around a good long time, six seasons in fact, and although it's had its ups and downs (we're looking at you, Season 2), we're willing to put all of that behind us with Season 7 set to change the show as we know it forever. Andrew Lincoln has played our leading man since day one, but the precious actor sent our anxiety levels into overdrive when he recently revealed that Season 7 will see Rick Grimes as a "broken" man.
Despite what may be headed Rick's way as he deals with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan and the Saviors, Lincoln is profoundly grateful for every moment he spends on set and for the fans' dedication to the show. Speaking with the UK newspaper the Express about his time on The Walking Dead, Lincoln said: “I didn’t realise that I would ever play something for six years. You come in with six years of history with an audience who sit there with that knowledge and it takes the pressure off somewhat and makes it more real in a sense.”
Rick Grimes will have to contend with the biggest baddie on the block in The Walking Dead Season 7, and Lincoln's co-star Norman Reedus has done well to warn us that Negan's actions will completely break the group apart. However off-screen, the Negan actor couldn't be more excited to be working on such a unique show. Lincoln dished: “It is exciting because Jeffrey Dean Morgan has joined the thing and he emailed me the other day and said, ‘I am so excited to be around people that are so creative, so up for doing something and pushing it’.”
Lincoln established his creative side while training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and he revealed that his fellow alumni have a tendency to mock him about his most well-known role. Lincoln said: “I love it. And the people I trained with at RADA think it is hilarious; I am classically trained and yet I wear cowboy boots and a Stetson and I shoot zombies for a living." And we wouldn't have it any other way. What do you hope to see in the coming season from Andrew Lincoln and Jeffrey Dean Morgan?
