The Weeknd has bowed out of Rihanna's tour in support of her album Anti, possibly to put the finishing touches on his own follow up to Beauty Behind the Madness
Toronto's The Weeknd hit a huge milestone this week when his watershed mixtape House of Balloons turned 5 years old. You would't blame the the singer, otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye, for taking some time off to mark the occasion, which might be the reason for his last-minute dropping out of Rihanna's Anti Tour. But the Toronto singer seems to be doing just the opposite, teasing on Twitter that the next chapter in his music career is "done soon," meaning the follow up to his 2015 breakout success Beauty Behind the Madness. Live Nation, which is promoting Rihanna's tour, released a statement that, "Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, The Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international Anti World Tour."

In fact, The Weeknd's been coming off a pretty huge month. Besides House of Balloons, which many still consider his best compilation to date, hitting 5 years, the man himself recently mingled with U.S. and Canadian political elite in Washington where the Canadian singer called Prime Minister Trudeau "unbelievable." The now-Grammy Award winner also received a big honour when none other than Eminem covered "The Hills" in Brazil on one of Lollapalooza's South American stops. Considering his huge rise from the anonymously-posted mixtape back in 2011, when it comes time for Tesfaye to promote his new "chapter," it may well be Rihanna taking the weekend off to go on tour with HIM. Are you stoked for a new Weeknd album?
