After 14 weeks on the charts, Alessia Cara's debut single "Here" from her first album Know-It-All has just unseated Drake for the top spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs

It's been a steady but certain climb for Alessia Cara's debut single "Here" from her sophomore album Know-It-All. Launching on the Billboard charts last November, "Here" quickly hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs Chart and became Spotify's most viral song of 2015. Now in the new year, "Here," often called an "anti-party anthem" when it's really about one girl's shitty night at a drunkfest, continues climbing on the charts. This week, Billboard announced the Bramptonian's signature song has beat a fellow Canadian for the top spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs. According to Billboard, "after an 11-week run at the top of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs... Drake's 'Hotline Bing' is knocked to No. 2 as Alessia Cara rises to her first career No. 1 on the chart with her debut single 'Here.'"

2015 was an intense year for Alessia Cara, between signing a major record deal, putting out her first album and single, and then receiving an early nod from the biggest pop star in the world after Cara covered Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood," leading the country-cum-pop icon to tweet "You're AMAZING... Love this." Taylor later invited the incipient Canadian star to perform "Here" on stage with her in front of a crowd of 50,000 people in Tampa, Florida. "I just remember blanking out and just doing it and then getting off and crying for no reason because I was just so overwhelmed," Cara recalls of the night. "It was an amazing experience." As her star trajectory continues to point skyward - with the Billboard ranking the latest band in her constellation - we're willing to bet this won't be the last experience in an already amazing career.
