PlayStation 4's top five games from EGX 2016

Written by

PlayStation 4 had a rollicking good line-up last week at EGX 2016, but what were its Top 5 games? Here at melty we run you through the list of our personal favourites from the gaming convention.

1. PlayStation VR Worlds

Topping the list is PlayStation VR Worlds! As avid gamers, we've all dreamed of a world with virtual reality video games for awhile now, and as of October that dream is finally coming true. PSVR Worlds is a stunning masterpiece, and without a doubt the most incredible gaming experience we've ever had. Whether you want to be a gangster from East London or a diver exploring the depths of the ocean, this is the ultimate VR experience for you. 2. Titanfall 2

We never expected to be fans of Titanfall 2 and only tried it out because the queue was short, but boy are we sold on this game. Forget the criticisms that Titanfall 2 is a CoD clone, because this FPS game is so much more than that. This fast-moving shooter is the slickest FPS we've seen, and the grappling hook mechanic lets us live out our Indiana Jones fantasies. This game looks great, it feels great, and with a new single-player campaign to boot, it's going to be a great game to add to your library.

3. Dishonored 2

Corvo and Emily's adventures continue in Dishonored 2 as a new enemy threatens Emily's regency fifteen years after the events of the first game. Emily Kaldwin is now a playable character and comes with a whole host of new abilities, while Corvo's have morphed over the years too. Dishonored was an instant hit when it debuted in 2012, and Dishonored 2 looks to improve on its predecessor in every way. 4. Rise of the Tomb Raider

Okay, so the Tomb Raider sequel may have been out for awhile on the Xbox now, but it's only just coming to PlayStation 4 this year, and it's one hell of a treat! While we haven't played the single-player mode, it comes with a new co-op survival mode where you and a friend have to fend off armed soldiers while hunting beasts for food to survive in the world. We don't know the size of the world in the co-op sandbox but it seems pretty big, and the new co-operative mode is the perfect way to get a friend hooked on the Tomb Raider franchise. Here's hoping for couch co-op!

5. Yooka Laylee

Rounding off the list is Yooka Laylee, an action-adventure platformer that's a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. Join Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat on a colourful and wacky adventure as they try to stop Capital B. and Dr. Quack from transforming the world's literature into money money money! While we doubt it's a heavy-hitting critique on capitalism, Yooka Laylee is a very entertaining game that's a throwback to a past era of gaming, and we can't wait to embrace the nostalgia it brings when it hits the PS4.
