The Walking Dead Season 7 will give us a proper introduction to the man we know as Negan, but being the complex leader that he is could actually earn himself a prequel series. Read on to find out more.

The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere is only a few days away! On Sunday October 23, we're going to not only find out which of our beloved characters will become Negan's victim, but we are also going to discover the full extent of his tyranny. Writer and creator Robert Kirkman recently began writing a series of graphic novels about Negan's life before the apocalypse, and it's been so successful that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has announced that he would like to do a prequel about the leader of the Saviors. Morgan spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what his character could have been like before we met him on screen, saying, “I think he was probably a little bit of an a–hole and a little bit of a bully. I don’t think this all just came about after the apocalypse. It would be fun to do a prequel to who Negan was.”

The Walking Dead Season 7 marks a new chapter for the group of survivors, and as with all great villains, we may start to see Negan's side of the story, and even begin to like him. Morgan said of his character: "Here’s the thing with Negan: He’s going to make you laugh. Even through the worst of it, you will find yourself smiling against your will. And I think that’s exactly how he was as a kid and through high school and stuff. That’s how we’re playing him, anyway. That’s how I’m going at it. He didn’t turn into this in one day. He’s been working at it for a while.” We here at melty are racked with anticipation and dread while the inner workings of Negan's world are revealed. If you've been so swept up in the lead up to the premiere to think about anything else, how about taking a hilarious trip down memory lane with John Cleese's recap of The Walking Dead Seasons 1-6!
